infusions showed a high response rate for the infusion , although the survival outcomes were identical. A later report showed a 45 percent response rate to 5-FU infusion in patients who were resistant to other therapy.

Five-Year Survival  5 percent, rising to 20 to 30 percent if liver metastases can be removed surgically.

• Chemoembolization is a method of treating liver metastases. This process involves injecting and filling the
  artery leading to the tumor with a plastic-sponge mixture containing chemotherapy 
  ( See "Metastatic Cancer" ).
